Maple Butterscotch Brownies

Sep 16, 2010 by Gabriel
The Recipe

1 ½ c. packed brown sugar
½ c. butter
1 ½ t. maple flavoring
2 eggs
1 ½ c. all purpose flour
1 t. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts
(Confectioners’ sugar, optional)

Directions
Cream sugar, butter, maple flavoring. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Combine flour and baking powder; add to egg mixture. Stir in nuts. Pour into greased 9 inch square pan. Bake 350 about 30 minutes. When cool, dust with confectioners’ sugar if desired.
Note: These always turn out gooey. The original recipe said to use melted butter, but I’ve stopped doing that. It’s helped some. I plan to reduce the sugar and see if that helps. My daughter always adds chocolate chips.
